My name is Kim Sprague.
I’m a wife, mom, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, and friend.
Art has always been a part of me. It started with a love of coloring books as a little girl but I remember realizing how much I liked to draw, and discovered I had a little talent, in Junior High art class with Mrs. Conger.
In High School, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Meyer cultivated my skills and I fell in love with the way it felt to create beauty and emotion on paper with a simple piece of lead, chalk, or ink.
After high school, I attended LCC and studied graphic art. I applied to and was accepted at the Disney Institute of Art but life took me in another direction and perusing a career in Art wasn’t in my cards. I don’t regret not following that path, my life has been blessed. I am a better artist when I enjoy what I’m creating rather than being pressured to make something somebody else envisions anyway.
I draw today because it helps me feel and process my emotions, it grounds me, it sparks my creativity, and simply because I love putting a pencil or pen to paper and seeing what I’m capable of creating.
